NBAF-Birmingham
Metabolomics research hosted by the the NERC Biomolecular Analysis Facility - Birmingham
Metabolomics research offered at NBAF-Birmingham:
Guidance on experimental design for metabolomics study.
-
Extraction of metabolites from biological matrices.
-
Metabolite analysis by FT-ICR mass spectrometry and/or NMR spectroscopy.
-
Processing of spectral data and statistical analysis.
-
Guidance on data standards and long term data stewardship.
Scientific remit:
Metabolomics research conducted by this facility must lie within the NERC scientific remit. Applicants must fulfil standard NERC eligibility requirements for research funding.
Type of service:
One of the primary objectives of the facility is to provide training in environmental metabolomics to NERC-funded researchers. Therefore we encourage applicants and members of their research groups, particularly NERC-funded PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, to visit the metabolomics facility to learn techniques and to assist with their research project. A “full service” is also available in which samples alone are sent to Birmingham, and results returned after analysis.
